Sarbaini family too outraged by Papagomo's blog

After demanding a royal commission of inquiry into the death of Ahmad Sarbaini Mohamad, his family is seriously considering lodging a police report against a pro-Umno blog for alleging that the deceased had secretly kept a woman.

They are also planning to file similar reports with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.

NONEAccording to the Ahmad Sarbaini's brother-in-law Makhtar Mansor, the blog alleges that the late Customs officer was not a clean person, a charge the family has rejected outright.

"We are considering lodging a report with the MACC as it involves a piece of evidence it seized from Ahmad Sarbaini during the course of its investigation," Makhtar said.

"It is clear the blog posting, which also includes a photo of the alleged woman said to be kept by Ahmad Sarbaini, is wrong.

"The big question is, how can an image retrieved from Ahmad Sarbaini's handphone be put up on the Papagomo blog?" he asked.

Ahmad Sarbaini's handphone was seized by the MACC during the course of its investigation and family members are suggesting that it was leaked to the blogger.

Papagomo is also in hot soup following the posting of an alleged photo of Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng's son, who is a minor, and another girl alleged to be the victim of molestation.

Calling for RCI

Last Saturday, Ahmad Sarbaini's family called for theestablishment of an RCI to determine the cause of death as they considered the inquest's ruling to be flawed.

Makhtar explained the photo was not that of any woman kept by the Customs officer, as claimed by the blogger, but that of a friend of Sarbaini's daughter.

"Ahmad Sarbaini's daughter had borrowed her father's handphone to take the photo," said Makhtar, a former magistrate and a former deputy public prosecutor.

Makhtar said the family learnt of this allegation in the blog posting two weeks ago.

"This made the family extremely upset and sad," he said.

Ahmad Sarbaini's death is the second of a person under the MACC custody, after that of DAP political aide Teoh Beng Hock.

Last month, the coroner's inquest atttibuted Sarbaini's death tomisadventure.
