PAS wants the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to investigate government training agency Giatmara over what it alleged were serious lapses in purchasing procedures which saw overpayment amounting to almost RM1 million to suppliers.
"I believe that there are clear signs of misappropriation... Equipment was purchased without proper quotations and the (purchasing) officer never checked the prices," PAS vice-president Salahuddin Ayub (right in photo) said at a press conference in Parliament House today.
According to a report Salahuddin said he received from a Rural and Regional Development Ministry representative two days ago, no action was taken internally by Giatmara, despite the admission to the mistakes as pointed out by the Auditor-General's Report.
The report stated that the only action taken was a stern letter issued to the supplier to return the amount overpaid.
Calling the agency's action as unprofessional and wholly inadequate, Salahuddin said that as the ministry and agency have failed to take adequate action, he will lodge a report on the matter to the MACC for further action.
