Seven years ago, an accounts manager complained about being molested by 11 police personnel but heard no more about investigations.
About midnight, however, the police finally acted - they detained her.
She spent the night in a police lock-up cell pending appearance in court today, to face a charge of obstructing the police in the performance of duty.
Wong Bee Fong, 39, is due to be charged in the Kajang Magistrate’s Court in Putrajaya, according to her lawyer Keppy Wong (right).
"What is the country turning into? They could have informed her of the charge instead of arresting her in the middle of the night," he toldMalaysiakini.
"It is bad enough that she was molested. To subject her now to time in a lock-up is traumatising.”
Bee Fong had alleged that she was stopped at a police road-block in Taman Connaught, Kuala Lumpur, on suspicion of drink driving.
Following a discussion, she told the police personnel to return her driving licence and to issue a ticket.
The police personnel allegedly refused and demanded a bribe of RM3,000.
She then drove towards the Batu 9 police station in Cheras, but said a brown Proton Wira gave chase and forced her to turn into the premises of the General Operations Force building.
When Bee Fong alighted from her car, 11 police personnel approached her and allegedly began touching her body (demonstrated in photo).
