"Alligator Is Worth RM2.0 Billion"

Two news items in The Star caught my attention today. Here is the first one :

SHAH ALAM: A former aide to a federal minister claimed trial to 28 counts of money laundering amounting to RM935,000 in the Sessions Court here yesterday.

28 counts? Wow. This guy was "allegedly" engaged in money laundering as follows :

"He allegedly committed the offences at various banks in Salak Tinggi, Bandar Baru Bangi and Putrajaya between Dec 4, 2008 and June 18, 2009"

Folks, December to June is seven months. Which averages out to FOUR counts of money laundering every month - or about once a week. Well these are only the known times. What about those times when he was not caught or for which there is little or no evidence? So where did he find the time to do other office work? The way Hasbie has been going about this money laundering, it looks like this was his office work.

Someone warned me the other day about "Alligator". "Alligator is worth RM2.0 Billion" he said. Alligator could be a member of our very own Millionaire's Club. Here they are :

This is our Cabinet. Some faces have disappeared. Hardly anyone here is NOT a millionaire. If the RM2.0 Billion "Alligator" is here, then it should be upgraded to 'Billionaire's Club'. It is bad enough if we have millionaires in the Cabinet. But 'billionaires'? I say bila mahu declare asset?

Imagine if there is an Alligator or Alligators here who have fortunes (perhaps carefully spread out among the wife and kids) that runs into RM2.0 billion or more. Esok kalau pecah tembelang nak tutup dengan apa? Sebenarnya bangkai kucing pun tak boleh tutup dengan daun keladi. Habis macam mana pula bangkai gajah?

It is way beyond due date for our country to be rid of all this crap. As Kee Tuan Chye says "No more bullshit". I cant imagine some fellow being charged with 28 counts of money laundering. Money changer mamak pun kalah.

The other news is also about Alligators. Here it is :

  • PUTRAJAYA: Top tier civil servants who received their new monthly salaries before the Public Service New Remuneration Scheme (SBPA) was scrapped have agreed to return the excess amount.
  • The scheme, which was to be implemented from Jan 1 this year, was scrapped on March 8
  • Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Sidek Hassan said the 36 employees under the Premier Service Category had agreed to return the amount
  • “More than half of them have already returned the money while some have not done so as they are abroad,”
  • Many civil servants had objected to the implementation of the SBPA, claiming it would only benefit top government servants, leaving the rest with paltry salary increases.
  • Chief Secretary would have drawn a salary of RM60,000 while those in the Premier Service category would get RM36,000.
  • the improved SSM is now expected to give all civil servants salary increases of between 7% and 13%.
Wow! RM60,000 for the KSN? And there are only 36 of these wannabe Alligators in the top tier of the 1.4 million man Civil Service?

My question is how did this embarrasing and silly pay hike get through the layers of the Gomen bureaucracy? What happened to the filter mechanisms? Quite obviously, these 36 top tier guys and gals have the power to get together and vote these huge salary increases for themselves. Nowafter the stuff hits the fan, the PM reversed the pay hike.

And I doubt the 18 or so remaining top cats will be returning the money back to the Gomen. Under what Law should they do that? What if someone had already used part of their extra salary as a downpayment on a new wife? How are they going to repay it? Has anyone thought about that? Maybe they can deposit the new wife with the Treasury to be held as "surety" or something like that?

By the way has anyone asked where is all or part of that RM250 million that was given to kondo lembu? If the top tier Civil Servants can be asked to return the 'paid them by mistake' extra cash, then using the same logic, the lembu kondo people should also return the cash stash. Not all the money is in condos in Krookistan, Singapore and Bangsar. Some or much of it could be in the bank. Just write a cheque lah.

Every other GLC's bosses are already paying themselves million Ringgit salaries. To play catch up the Gomen's top tier also wants six figure annual salaries.

It is so very fortunate that the PM stepped in and announced a more equitable salary adjustment. The lower ranks get up to 13% increment while the top tier gets about 7% increment. Otherwise the Government may have lost another 1.4 million votes. Now the Government may only lose 36 votes.

What happened to Pemandu, Pemudah and whoever else? Siapa jaga fail ini?
