Can Umno ride on Najib's coattails?
VOXPOP 'And the so-called smart Malaysians are going to give away their votes to corrupted BN for 45 sen per day?'
RM500 aid boosts Najib's approval rating
Don't Just Talk: Malaysians should not be that naive to think that PM Najib Razak can just buy your vote for RM500 which rightly belongs to the rakyat, while Umno-BN leaders are raking in hundred of millions, like the recent NFC's (National Feedlot Corporation's) RM250 million cow-condos soft-loan.
If Malaysians are so myopic and just look at the peanuts which are handed out while our national debt has spiralled to RM455 billion, I feel sorry for the future of the country.
Malaysians should not be conned by this Umno handout but to take the money and still vote for Pakatan Rakyat, failing which, our country will join Greece and slip into bankruptcy before 2019.
No4beend: What a pity if the survey result is true - that Najib popularity increased due to the RM500 paid out to some people. That's how cheap Malaysian are. They must be the most stupid people in the world.
Najib has been in the power for three years. The RM500 just works out to RM167 per year over three years or equivalent to 45 sen per day.
And the so-called smart Malaysians are going to give away their votes to corrupted BN for 45 sen per day?
Tailek: Any idiot can buy popularity by dishing out money which belongs to the taxpayers. Shame on the PM for using taxpayers' money to fish for votes. If he is so generous, he should be using either his own money or Umno's, not my money.
3rdForce: Do I notice despondency and sour grapes amongst someMalaysiakini readers here?
Najib deserves whatever approval rating he is getting because the man is on the ground, he has analysed, and is correcting the weak links. He is seen to be working hard, giving out rakyat's money back to the rakyat, in solid cash.
Yes, he and his gang have taken some billions here and there, but I daresay Najib is winning the perception war. He definitely has got most Indians' appreciation by now, with the Chinese slowly warming up to him.
If Pakatan wants to smell the rose in the Putrajaya garden, they have to do a lot more than capitalising on Umno's plunder, deceit, racism, voter manipulation and Cowgates.
Ghkok: From the Merdeka Center survey, I can conclude that Najib, with his high popularity ratings, will definitely win his Pekan seat, whereas BN overall will lose the general elections due to the "low happiness" with the government.
Therefore, Najib will be the opposition leader after the next election.
Anonymous_3ff5: BN spends four years to clean the national coffers, plus throwing in an additional burden of RM450 billion national debt.
But come election time on the fifth year, BN is generous enough to give a pittance to the rakyat under BR1M.
SimpleSimon: I also support Najib for giving back my hard-earned RM500. But my family and I will not give him nor any BN candidate our votes.
2cts Worth: Ah Gor Jibby (brother Najib) is having the time of his life with taxpayers' money. That's why he will protect Putrajaya at all cost.
We pay him to make pretty speeches, go on holiday with his wife on spending sprees, lodging in luxurious penthouses, splashes money around to build his ego up, and be Santa Claus come election time.
The latest - we even pay for his daughter's engagement party. You can't blame him entirely if there are enough fools in Malaysia to keep him going.
Oscar Kilo: I'm paying so much income tax, but not getting much in return. I guess I should try to earn less, then I'll be more happy and can qualify to get RM500 from the government.
It's sad that Umno-BN is in power only because they rely on manipulating poor or desperate folks.
Wira: It is so disappointing to find out that the PM can incur further debts to successfully buy votes despite overwhelming evidence of corruption and abuse of power in this country.
When will our people realise the dire problems this country is facing? Will it be until the equivalent of Marcoses being driven out of his palace?
By that time, like to the Filipinos, it may be too late. - Malaysiakini
