No actions over A-G Report irregularities

No action has been taken against any of the irregularities listed in the 2010 Auditor-General's Report, although investigations are ongoing.
KUALA LUMPUR: Not a single government official has been made accountable for the irregularities listed in the 2010 Auditor-General’s Report.
This was despite several cases being investigated by “related” parties, according to a reply in Parliament today.
In a written answer to Batu Gajah MP (DAP) Fong Po Kuan, Finance Minister Najib Tun Razak said no one has been officially made accountable for what was revealed in the Report.
“Until now, no minister, deputy minister and official has been officially made accountable for the failure to comply with finance regulations, management, high-priced procurement, ‘not value for money’ and unachieved targets as was reported in the 2010 Report,” he said.
Fong had queried the minister over the matter, and had asked for the government to list specific cases, the government’s subsequent actions as well as investigation details by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.
Nothing was said on these details.
Following the Report’s release, Najib said that Public Service Department (PSD) Director-General Abu Bakar Abdullah sent letters to all ministry secretary-generals, federal department heads and state government secretariats.
These letters were to ask them to take “follow-up actions” towards all issues listed in the Report, and to act against government officials involved.
The government heads were then required to report on the development of their actions to the PSD every two months.
Some of the issues raised in the 2010 Auditor-General’s Report have included an alleged RM80 million wastage on police development projects, and even the ongoing RM250 million National Feedlot Centre controversy.
