Fresh from holidays, PM and wife visit youth carnival
A visit by Prime Minister Najib Razak and his wife Rosmah Mansor to the carnival site of the Million Youths Gathering 2012 in Putrajaya today, further enlivened the atmosphere of the gathering of young people.
As soon as they arrived at the site at 3pm, they boarded a tram and were brought to visit the My Kampung Art segment at the carnival where they tried their hand at batik painting on a piece of cloth that was 263.3 metres long.
Najib gave the final touch on the painting process for the batik cloth to be recorded in the Malaysia Book Of Records (MBR). Its length erased the old mark which was 180 metres long.
He then witnessed a rythmic parade drill mounted by 1,201 members of Kawad Berirama Belia 1Malaysia, which also entered the MBR for the feat.
Among the agencies represented in the drill were Institut Kraf Negara; fire and rescue departments in Selangor, Cyberjaya dan Kuala Lumpur; Sekolah Seri Puteri Cyberjaya, Malaysian Scouts Federation, Institut Kemahiran Belia Negara (IKBN) Jitra, Dusun Tua; Institut Kemahiran Baitulmal Majlis Agama Islam Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur; and Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia.
‘Ichi Malaysia’
The prime minister then headed to the Higher Education Ministry's segment to launch its Life-Long Learning Carnival, before visiting the Japanese Fest segment.
At this segment, Najib got to mingle with some 1,000 visitors including youths, and the atmosphere at it was made more joyful with singing and dancing performances by Japanese youths.
Najib also took time to chat with members of the Momoiro Clover Z group which presented anime performances that included songs there.
He then shouted “Arigato gozaimasthita” (thank you very much) and also “Ichi Malaysia” (1Malaysia) with those present before moving on to the next segment.
Najib and Rosmah have both just returned from an overseas trip to United Kingdom, United States and Spain.
