Umno secretary-general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor said this proved that the party has succeeded in getting youths to understand its struggle.
He said Umno would continue the strategy of reaching out to youths so that they did not become confused by “lies” and make them understand the party’s efforts to bring development to the nation and people.
“The claim that youths don’t like Umno is not true. It is just the perception of the opposition who like to create tension among the people,” he said adding over 10,000 people visited Umno’s exhibition to learn about its history and struggle.
Meanwhile, Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin said the strong support from youths was because they realised that their welfare is well looked after by the party.
He said this was due to the party’s approach of including the provision of job opportunities and housing loans to youths.
About 1,000 new entries from youths were received during the three-day Barisan Nasional (BN) Career Carnival. — Bernama
