KOTA KINABALU: United Pasokmomogun KadazanDusun Murut Organisation (Upko) president Tan Sri Bernard Dompok yesterday reiterated that the Royal Commission of Inquiry on the presence of illegal immigrants in Sabah will be set up by the federal government.
Speaking to reporters at the Upko Kaamatan celebration in Tanjung Aru, the Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister assured Sabahans that the Royal Commission of Inquiry has been approved by the government.
“I have said that Sabahans should not worry about the Royal Commission of Inquiry because it is clear that the federal government has given its approval and it will be implemented.
“It has to be set up … Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak will be visiting Sabah soon and I believe everything will be resolved during that visit,” he said.
Dompok who is also Penampang MP said this when asked to comment on the opposition’s move to hold a ‘sit-in and protest’ session in Penampang on June 2, in protest of the federal government’s delay in setting up the Royal Commission of Inquiry.
When asked if the opposition should go ahead with the ‘sit-in and protest’, Dompok said the opposition also had a right to voice out their opinions and feelings about the issue so they should not be blamed for wanting to do so. (theborneopost)
