FMT Video presents a look at what prompts people to occupy Dataran Merdeka.
VIDEO INSIDE
PETALING JAYA: Occupy Dataran is a movement to reclaim public space in Dataran Merdeka.
Regulars who are there claim the movement allows them to exercise freedom of expression.
Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) and opponents of the movement have confiscated and disrupted the Occupy movements’ encampments but these attempts have failed to make the occupiers abandon the historic Dataran Merdeka.
Academics such as Universiti Malaya’s Azmi Sharom feels that the people have reached the limit to say no, whereas UKM’s Agus Yusoff claims that student occupiers are jeopardising their studies.
Watch the video by our video journalist Hisyam Salleh and journalist Patrick Lee to find out more.
