‘From low IQ to no IQ’

A MIC leader is left speechless by Sri Gading Umno MP Mohamad Aziz's justification with regard to his controversial remark about S Ambiga.
PETALING JAYA: Umno lawmaker Mohamad Aziz’s justification over the controversy surrounding his remark about Bersih chairperson S Ambiga has left a MIC leader speechless.
S Vell Paari, who yesterday called for the Sri Gading MP to be hanged for his lack of intelligence, said that Mohamad had now gone from “low IQ to no IQ” with his latest remarks.
“I am now convinced that he was dropped more than once on his head as a child, ” he told FMT.
The MIC central working committee member was responding to Mohamad’s statement today that he had only posed a question with regard to whether Ambiga should be hanged for treason.
Denying that he was being racist, the three-term Umno MP accused DAP of fanning the racial flames by claiming that he targeted the Bersih chairperson because she was an Indian and a Hindu.
However, Vell Paari said it was clear that Mohamad was living in a cocoon.
The MIC leader said being an experienced and senior politician, the Umno MP should have known better than to pose such questions in the Dewan Rakyat.
“He has the right to disagree with Ambiga’s actions and to even criticise her. But suggesting treason is not criticism and such remarks cannot be condoned because the penalty for treason is death.
“Just because you disagree with Ambiga on Bersih, you want to seek an evil outcome like ending the life of a fellow Malaysian, whose only request was for free and fair elections.
“In the eyes of those Malaysians who supported Bersih, she is more patriotic than you and it is you who is committing treason by playing the racial card. So do we hang you?” he added.

Racial and religious issues don’t work
Furthermore, Vell Paari said Mohamad had singled out Ambiga in his speech and not the other Malay leaders in Bersih such as co-chairperson A Samad Said.
“So you can’t tell the Indian community and their parties not to get upset because if he has not realised, Ambiga happens to be a woman of Indian origin,” he added.
Instead of apologising for his crude remarks, Vell Paari expressed disappointment that Mohamad resorted to blaming others.
He also reminded the Umno veteran that politicians could no longer exploit racial and religious issues for mileage.
“We now live in an aggressive society, it is not armed with weapons but something more dangerous, which is knowledge and information.
“Perhaps Mohamad comes from a different generation which does not speak the ‘Google’ language and therefore continues to harp on political strategies from the past,” he said.
The Umno MP had drawn flak when he likened Ambiga’s actions to that of terrorist movement Al Mau’nah, whose members had been sentenced to death for waging war against the king.
He also asked if the former Bar Council president should be hanged for treason as well.
In a statement yesterday, Barisan Nasional distanced itself from Mohamad, with the ruling coalition’s secretary-general Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor saying it was the MP’s personal stand.
This morning, the MIC CWC called on Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak and his deputy Muhyiddin Yassin to take stern action against Mohamad.
Since the Bersih 3.0 rally, Ambiga had been the target of protests and criticisms despite the electoral watchdog’s steering committee comprising 20 members, leading to the speculation that the attacks were racial in nature.
Meanwhile, NGO WargaAman urged all Malaysians to lodge police reports throughout the nation tomorrow against Mohamad, demanding for an apology and his suspension from Parliament.
“It is not right for a MP to suggest that she be hanged just because she fights for free and fair elections. See her as a Malaysian and not an Indian,” said its secretary-general S Barathidasan.
