Haze is back, 3 areas in S'gor hit unhealthy levels
Three places in Selangor recorded unhealthy air quality level as at 11am, as the haze situation worsens in the peninsular due to the current hot spell and suspected open burning in northern and central Sumatra.
Checks at the Department of Environmentwebsite listedKuala Selangorrecording the highest Air Pollutant Index reading at 131, followed by Port Klang (130) andShah Alam (106).
A reading of 101 or more is unhealthy while between 51 and 100 is considered moderate.
A check on thehotspots found some in central and northen Sumatra during the current hot spell. Normally open burning activities are conducted to clear agricultural land. From the map it is detected that there are also open burning activities in areas in southern, central and the east coast of peninsular Malaysia.
