New injunction to be filed on 'misleading' FGV prospectus

A group of settlers will be filing an another injunction against the Felda Global Ventures Holdings Bhd (FGV) listing in the Kuantan High Court tomorrow, - this time on grounds that the prospectus "misleads" investors.

"(FGV) is passing off land that it does not actually own, land that will not be given to it as asset by state governments," Association of Felda Settlers' Children (Anak) president Mazlan Aliman said today, referring to the 1,000-page FGV prospectus.

NONEThe matter is even more contentious, Mazlan said, considering that Pakatan Rakyat state governments have said that they would not release parcels of Felda land under their jurisdiction.

Speaking at a press conference in Kuala Lumpur, Mazlan (left) claimed that even the governments of BN-led Perak and Johor were also "not ready" to give up the Felda land under their jurisdiction.

In fact, Mazlan, who is also a PAS leader, said Felda on June 13 wrote a demand letter to the Johor government for the land.

Anak was also doing checks on about 18,000 hectares of settlers' land that were "without titles" in Negri Sembilan, which was also included in the prospectus.

Elaborating on the injunction, Mazlan said the settlers hoped to call on the Kelantan government to testify in support of their case.

The prospectus lists 327,730.06ha of land, including 66,438.60ha that did not have titles. These include close to 25,000ha in Kelantan and about 240ha in Kedah.

About 16,000ha and 33,000ha of the land listed are located in Perak and Johor respectively, while about 9,000ha are in Negri Sembilan.

'Haram jadah' suit to proceed

Mazlan also announced that Anak would proceed with its suit against Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak for referring to settlers who had filed an earlier injunction against the listing as "haram jadah"(illegitimate children).

"He did not accede to our demand (that Najib retracts the statement), so we will proceed with our defamation suit in the near future to claim RM10 million per settler for the eight people who filed the injunction," he said.
