PKR, Umno blame each other for vandalism

A police report is lodged over defaced signboards belonging to Ampang PKR.
PETALING JAYA: PKR and Umno are pointing fingers at each other over vandalised PKR signboards in Ampang.
“It’s Umno’s work,” said PKR women chief Zuraida Kamaruddin, whose portrait, along with that of party deputy president Azmin Ali, appears on the largest of the boards.
Ampang Umno chief Ismail Kijo denied the allegations, blaming PKR members instead for the vandalism.
“They do that to create an impression that Umno members vandalised them,” he said. “We are well aware of their tactics.”
Ampang PKR Youth chief Hamsah Djabir lodged a police report this morning, saying he could not do so earlier because he was attending party functions in Kelantan. The boards were apparently vandalised on Saturday.
Hamsah told FMT the affected boards were posted at the party’s branches in Kampung Melayu, Taman Perwira Sri Tanjung, Ampang Jaya and Taman Tun Abdul Razak.
The board bearing Zuraida’s and Azmin’s pictures was at the Ampang Jaya branch, he said.
Zuraida, who is the MP for Ampang, said she suspected that Umno resented Ampang PKR because of its reputation as one of the most active divisions of the party.
