Rafizi to expose abuses of power by Selangor Umno

Accusing Umno of manipulating his resignation from the Selangor government by bandying it as emerging cracks within the PKR-led state government, PKR's director of strategy Rafizi Ramli declared today that he is going on a warpath against Umno.

"Two days ago, Deputy Education Minister Puad Zarkashi (right) asked me to expose all the abuses of power that took place in Selangor.

"I accept his challenge. We will expose all the corruption that took place when Umno was ruling Selangor because there has been no such thing (corruption) under our administration," Rafizi said in a statement today.

According a report by Umno-ownedUtusan Malaysia, Puad described Rafizi's resignation as chief executive of the Selangor Economic Adviser's Office as a result of discontent against warlords in the state government.

Puad went on to call upon Rafizi to tell all about the alleged abuses of power in the Selangor government.

Rafizi said: "Tomorrow, I will sit down with the Selangor Menteri Besar's political secretary, Faekah Hussin, to go through files concerning the abuses of power that took place in Selangor under Umno,"

Pro-Umno blogs have speculated that Rafizi's resignation on June 21 was a result of him being at loggerheads with Faekah, who they claimed had substantial influence over Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim on state matters, including the disbursement of the RM300 million the state fund Geran Selangorku.

However, Rafizi has denied this, saying he was not committing his full time to his role as PKR strategy director in the face of a looming general election, which must be called in about a year.

"My resignation was based on moral foundations because, as a politician, it is not right that I am paid a salary from the taxpayers' money while I focus on my political activities," he said.

Claims that there were cracks in PKR or that he was at loggerheads with Faekah and Khalid were figments of Umno's imagination, Rafizi added.
