'Come up with a better reason, Yen Yen'

MCA vice-president Ng Yen Yen has made a fool of Malaysians by citing her son's tertiary studies to justify her permanent residence(PR) status in Australia in the 1990s.

Drawing a comparison, DAP Socialist Youth chief Anthony Loke said the party’s Lim Guan Eng had studied in Australia, but that his father Kit Siang had not applied for PR.

NONE"(Ng should) come up with a better reason. Who does she think she’s fooling?” exclaimed Loke (left in photo)at a press conference today.

He pointed out that Ng had obtained Australian PR status until 1995 when her son graduated, but that she was senator in Malaysia from 1993-1996.

"Did she disclose her PR status to the prime minister, MCA, and Pahang government which had recommended her for the seat?"he asked.

Loke questioned how she could have served the country whole-heartedly “with one leg in another country”, as well as her “integrity, honesty, dedication and loyalty”.

"I want to ask her, was it morally right and ethically right for her to accept the post as senator, while she was holding PR status in Australia? Instead being proud of it, she should tender a public apology for misleading Malaysians.”

Seat allocation

Loke again dismissed the allegation published by Malay daily Utusan Malaysia yesterday, claiming that the DAP will contest 90 seats in coming general election and thereby become the dominant party in Pakatan Rakyat.

He repeated that the party, which had contested 47 parliamentary seats in 2008, has yet to complete seats negotiations with its counterparts in Pakatan.

Even if the party is allocated more seats, he said, this will not exceed 60.

He added that the DAP is hoping to contest Kedah's parliamentary seats, and state seats in Perlis, Kelantan and Terengganu.
