Don't be so cruel, Guan Eng's wife tells Soi Lek

Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng's wife today has appealed to MCA president Chua Soi Lek to stop condoning or allowing his party to spread lies about her husband having a secret relationship with a former staff.

The lies, said Betty Chew also Kota Laksamana assemblyperson, includes the allegation that she had assaulted the former staff.

She said this was a ploy to destroy her family’s reputation and affect her children.

NONE"You have family too. I am sure your family must have gone through hard times when you admitted publicly about your affair and resigned as minister," said an emotional Chew, at a press conference with her husband in Penang today.
"Don't make other families go through the same and more so when there is no truth to the lies spread," she added.

Chew said as a woman, she had urged Chua's wife to stop such "cruelty" from her husband.

She added that Chua's wife may have forgiven her husband's previous cruelty towards her, but she should advise him that Malaysian women would never forgive Chua for allowing MCA to inflict such cruel lies on an innocent woman and her family.

Chew also expressed disappointment that Chua had dismissed the sensational lies by MCA against her husband, saying he clearly condones the BN conspiracy.
Pain too easily forgotten
She added that BN had used the Melaka State Assembly as a platform to spread the fiction that her husband had a secret relationship with a former staff and that she had assaulted the woman and her own husband.
"How can this be my husband’s problem when these were lies spread by MCA?" she asked.

"My husband did not have an affair with his former staff and I had repeatedly said I had never argued with her or assaulted her or anyone for that matter," she added.

NONEChew said Chua (left) should have known the pain his family and wife had gone through when his video sex tape with another woman was exposed earlier.

She added that she thought Chua would not use the same tactics on his opponents, especially when they are lies.

"Why is it that MCA up to now can not show proof that I had hit anyone?" she asked.

"Chua should either state these allegations or direct Melaka MCA chief Gan Tian Loo to repeat his allegations outside the Dewan Undangan Negeri Melaka," she said.
Meanwhile, Chew said she and her colleagues have challenged Gan several times to repeat the allegations outside the dewan.

She described Gan as a "coward" for hiding behind the dewan's "immunity", knowing what he had claimed were not true and he would be sued by her and Lim.

"Gan is trying to run away from responsibility after defaming me and my husband. Is this MCA’s style of politicking?" she asked.

"I have already warned Gan in the dewan that if he has no guts to repeat outside what he said in the dewan,  he will forever  be seen as the rat running across the street by the community," she added.

Chew said Chua  has still not apologised for his previous remarks that she had not serviced her constituents and should instead service her husband.

She added that it was a terrible statement and it made her wonder how a MCA president could utter such "demeaning remarks" against a woman leader without again checking the facts.
