KUALA LUMPUR: The Kampung Baru "Bubur Lambuk Agong" porridge was declared a tourism icon in conjunction with the Ramadan month.
Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ng Yen Yen said the "Bubur Lambuk Agong" is a famous signature dish which is recognised not just by the residents of Kampung Baru but those within the Klang Valley as well.
"People from around Klang Valley stop at Kampung Baru Masjid Jamek to get the dish, apart from praying here," she said when launching the 2012 Ramadan Bazaar at the mosque here.
One hundred pots of porridge were distributed to visitors to the mosque on the first day of the bazaar on Saturday.
Ng described the bazaar as a platform for Malaysians to promote local delicacies from multi-racial communities to foreign tourists.
"We can also introduce our rich culture, heritage, the Malaysian life style and share the Ramadan experience with them," she added. - Bernama
