Proof copy of document where Maznah Mazlan is alleged to have misused public monies to fund her election campaign for GE 12 (2008)
Human Resources Deputy Minister Senator Dato' Maznah Mazlan (photo) is alleged to have used public funds through Yayasan Hawa (Hal Ehwal Wanita Negeri Pahang) while she was holding the post of Exco for Family Development and Women Affairs, Culture, Arts and Tourism for Pahang earlier.
Based on information, Maznah had used Public Funds of RM82,000 for personal use in her election campaign for GE 12. Maznah won the seat Dewan Undangan Negeri (DUN) Muazdzam Shah by defeating candidate from Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), Rabidin Kasmawi with a majority of 2,520 votes. She obtained 6,681 votes while PKR candidate obtained 3,161 votes. Maznah was then a Pahang Exco, but later was appointed a Senator by Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak so that she would hold the post of Deputy Minister for Human Resources on 9 April 2009. With the departure of Maznah to the federal had made Pahang not to have a Woman Representative in the Pahang Exco and her portfolio was taken over by Dato' Shafik Fauzan (ADUN Inderapura) until todate.
What has been alleged is that she had abuse her powers then to use public funds through Yayasan Hawa during 2008 while the portfolio was still under her care?.
Looking at the documents produced, the alleged incident took place during GE 12. On 27 February 2008, a Cash cheque for RM42,000 was made and a sum of RM40,000 was given to Maznah after a Exco Meeting. In the meanwhile, a sum of RM2,000 was given to one Tuan Hj.Ismail Abu Bakar (Ketua Pembantu Tadbir di Lembaga Pembangunan Tioman) at the same time. All payments were made for "accomodation, expenses and miscellaneous". Later on 3 March 2008 while GE12 election campaign was going on another cheque from Yayasan Hawa amounting to RM37,000 was cashed. On the same date, two deliveries of cash amounting to RM7,000 was made out to Tn.Hj Ismail.
