'No coffin, no tears’ best describes MCA

'No coffin, no tears’ best describes MCA
There is a Chinese idiom Bu Jian Guan Cai Bu Luo Lei (You don’t see the coffin, you don’t shed tears). It aptly describes MCA and its leaders’ stubborn and unrepentant ways.
The way MCA leaders are demonising and sabotaging their former president and Pandan MP Ong Tee Keat is baffling and outrageous, to say the least.
Today, Barisan Nasional (BN), led by Umno and its second largest coalition partner MCA, are struggling for political survival. That they are still in the doldrums after a severe beating by the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) in the March 2008 political tsunami speaks volumes.
BN and its 14 coalition partners have only themselves to blame for refusing to accept reality and change with the times for the rakyat (people) after more than four years.
The people are the BOSS
BN-Umno, like MCA, is also as stubborn and unrepentant in its ways and does not subscribe to the will of the people – that the voters are their masters. They are now only months away from facing their stiffest ever national poll and their growing fear of losing their mandate to rule.
With such a scenario, it goes beyond logic why MCA continues to pursue an agenda to end Ong’s political stranglehold on Pandan (formerly Ampang Jaya) – a parliamentary seat which he has successfully defended since January 1989 or for the past 23 years.
Only MCA MP to win in S'gor
Ong even bucked the trend by winning in 2008, despite the tsunami. Ong won with a 2,900-vote majority but Pandan’s two state seats – Teratai and Cempaka – fell to PR with a combined 10,000 vote-majority.
That victory made Ong the only MCA MP candidate to win in Selangor and his strong credential as a BN winnable candidate in the 13th general election which must be called by next April.
Selfish agenda
Aren’t the BN and MCA aware that when they sabotage one of their own, they are also sabotaging themselves? It only confirms, without doubt, that the MCA and BN only have their own selfish agenda at heart – not the people or country’s welfare.
The sabotage and blackout of Ong by The Star or MCA’s mouth piece are so evidently clear with the paper’s coverage of a media conference called by the incumbent Pandan MP on Monday (July 16, 2012).
Ong had called for the media conference after officials from five residential areas sought their MP’s help to protest the construction of two 16-storey blocks of condominiums in Taman Nirwana.
The residents were upset and frustrated with the PR elected representatives and officials whom they had earlier sought for help but with no effective response or action.
Frustrated, the residents turned to Ong for help to intervene on the controversial approval of the condominium project. The Star’s July 19 report titled ‘Development in neighbourhood causing residents problems’(http://thestar.com.my/metro/story.asp?file=/2012/7/19/central/11644086&sec=central) deliberately blacked out Ong and made no mention of the MP’s role. Ong just did not exist in the story.
Compare The Star’s report with:
Malay Mail’s July 17 report titled ‘Look into controversial project, residents urge Tee Keat’(http://www.mmail.com.my/story/look-controversial-project-residents-urge-tee-keat-22824);
New Straits Times’ July 18 report titled ‘Residents object to development’ (http://www.nst.com.my/streets/central/
residents-object-to-development-1.109159); and OTK’s Blog News titled ‘Don’t evade Taman Nirwana’s condo issue’ (http://ongteekeat.net/?p=6252)
MCA’s use of The Star to frustrate and sabotage its own man comes on the heels of the paper’s June 21 analysis that can be seen as promoting Rafizi Ramli, the PKR strategist who has done much damage to Umno with the infamous Cowgate scandal and other expose (Visit: http://ongteekeat.net/?p=6063 ‘Compare The Star’s spin story and the public’s response’ for details and perspective of MCA’s unkind betrayal of its own MP).
When the MCA president Dr Chua Soi Lek can betray his wife, when his deputy Liow Tiong Lai can be caught lying in public over Tung Shin Hospital and his bid for car registration No. WWW 15, its Youth chief Wee Ka Siong for failing to honour his words over education issues, can Malaysians and the Chinese in particular trust the party and BN anymore?
This is why Bu Jian Guan Cai Bu Luo Lei best describes MCA and its current batch of central leadership.
