Obedient Wives Club shrugs off sexist award

The highly controversial Obedient Wives Club is not demoralised by the sexist award it "won" at the 'Aiyoh..Wat Lah Awards 2012' recently, and is still determined to spread its message.

NONEAccording to its representative Fauziah Ariffin (left) the satirical award would not deter it from continuing with its mission.

"The reason for this is because we have a bigger objective as we do not intend to provoke.
Our intention is to educate women to be faithful to their husbands," she said when met in Rawang.

OWC and Pasir Mas MP Ibrahim Aliwon awards from women's rights body, Joint Action Group on Equality at the Aiyoh Wat Lah Awards ceremony.

The club had been handed the award as reportedly it claims"women who failed to fulfill their husband's desires has resulted in extra-marital affairs'.

Fauziah said OWC does not need any recognition as it is out to get God's blessings.

"It is not an issue for those who want to support or provoke us as what is important is how God views us. We do not care what other people claim," she said, adding OWC's intention is to ensure women improve their homes.

The government has banned OWC's book titled "Islamic Sex; fighting against Jews to return Islamic sex to the world" .

Fauziah said despite the Islamic Development Department's ban, 'we continue to get calls about it".
