Only BN can bring success to Felda, says Najib

KUALA LUMPUR, July 7 — Only the Barisan Nasional (BN) government is capable of generating wealth for Felda and providing for the wellbeing of the people, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said.
He said the listing of Felda Global Ventures Holdings Berhad (FGVH) and the construction of Felda Tower had proved that the organisation had managed to make a transformation to the extent of getting global recognition.
Najib said the success was also contributed by the settlers, who had proved that they could not be easily manipulated by the opposition parties who wanted to sabotage Felda’s development.
“The efforts made by those who wanted to sabotage us have clearly gone down the drain. We have proved that all their allegations are false,” he said at the Settlers Day 2012 celebration, which was attended by over 20,000 Felda citizens, including 12,000 settlers, here tonight.
The prime minister also launched the 50-storey Felda Tower worth RM700 million at Platinum Park in the city’s golden triangle area.
Present were his wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Ahmad Maslan and Felda Chairman Tan Sri Mohd Isa Abdul Samad.
Najib said the two biggest lies spread by the “pests” in Felda issues were that Felda is a bankrupt and that the settlers’ land would be pawned with the listing of FGVH.
“How can a bankrupt company be listed? Now, these ‘pests’ have been silenced because the public didn’t fall for their lies. The fact is that the settlers’ land is intact. This is their biggest lie ever and obviously, they have ran out of ideas,” he said.
The prime minister also commended the settlers who had stood up to the challenges in developing Felda over the past 50 years, starting in Lurah Bilut, Pahang.

“Felda’s story is full of challenges. We are strong and determined and everything that we planned and implemented firmly and effectively over the years have brought us to where we are today,” he said.
Meanwhile, the prime minister also announced that the second payment of the RM5,000 windfall money to the settler’s wives would be made during the Ramadan month, followed by the payment for their children.
Najib also said that the Felda Tower was currently valued at RM965 million.
“It has yet to be occupied, but it has made a profit of RM265 million. Isn’t that a good decision...to make a profit of 38 per cent,” he said.
Najib also hinted the possibility of giving an additional bonus to the settlers in the future.
“We still have funds. We didn’t spend all and we have more plans to generate wealth. We want to fight for Felda settlers’ wellbeing.
“Felda has succeeded. We want to send the message to the ‘pests’, to the people and to the world that Felda has succeeded and can continue benefiting from its struggles, ideas and strategic planning,” he added. — Bernama
