KUALA LUMPUR, July 25 — A 6.6 magnitude earthquake hit the west coast of northern Sumatra, Indonesia, at 8.27 am today, with tremors felt in peninsular Malaysia, the Malaysian Meteorological Department reported.
It said in a statement that the epicentre of the quake was 25km southeast of Simeulue and 547km southwest of Lumut, Perak.
It also said that tremors were felt in the west coast of peninsular Malaysia.
However, no tsunami threat was reported, it added. — Bernama
