Utusan: Singapore has big plans for GE13

Umno-owned Utusan Malaysia has accused Singapore’s People’s Action Party (PAP) of masterminding the downfall of BN through its alleged conduit, the DAP.

In the Bisik-bisik column found in Utusan’s Sunday edition, Mingguan Malaysia, the newspaper said the PAP has been waiting for 48 years of achieving its “dream” in Peninsula Malaysia.

lee kuan yew visit lim guan eng and penang gerakan 150609 02“And DAP is very committed to ensure the dream becomes reality, is it not?” wrote Awang Selamat, a pen name for the newspaper’s senior editorial staff.

The article traces how DAP become a splinter group from PAP after Singapore was expelled from Malaysia, alleging that the two parties still enjoyed cosy ties.

It also alleged that DAP advisor Lim Kit Siang was once the press secretary to Lee Kuan Yew, Singapore’s longest serving premier and still hugely influential figure in the city state.

Awang Selamat claimed that these ties were enhanced after DAP managed to form a coalition government in Penang in 2008, evident in Lee’s visit to the island a year later.
Cozy ties

According to Awang Selamat, Lee had noted that Penang was the only state with a non-Malay majority, which he said contained implicit meanings, which the author did not elaborate on.

Awang Selamat alleged that Lee had made a commitment that Singapore will aid Penang and even had a meeting with the state’s exco members, where he gave “special moral support”.

Following this, Awang Selamat said leaders from Singapore and Penang had more follow up visits and their relationship had become better.

“Awang Selamat doesn’t want to make too many assumptions but the great interest in Penang shown by Singapore begs questions,” wrote the columnist, that always refers to itself in third-person.

For now, Awang Selamat claimed that Singapore’s plans were to help Pakatan Rakyat in any way it can, including “illegal demonstrations” and other closed-door activities that will soon be exposed.

“All these should be seen as a signal (that they want to see) Malaysia’s government fall and be replaced with a new government where DAP is dominant”.
