MIC denies struggling to deliver votes

MIC denies struggling to deliver votes
KUALA LUMPUR- The MIC has clarified a recent report in a tabloid, which quoted its president as saying the party was struggling to deliver votes to the Barisan Nasional (BN) in the upcoming general election.
Describing the report as inaccurate, party secretary-general Datuk S. Murugesan said, what MIC president Datuk Seri G. Palanivel said was that the party was working hard to win back the Indian votes.
In a statement here today, he said Palanivel had also stated that currently, MIC had 400,000 registered voters and was working towards reaching the target of 500,000 members who were voters.
Murugesan clarified that the party president's statement referred to MIC members who were registered voters, and not on the support of the Indian community towards MIC or BN.
Therefore, the report by the tabloid that BN had the support of only 400,000 Indian voters out of the total 900,000 Indian voters was misleading, he said.
