KUALA LUMPUR -Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak (pix) today urged the rakyat to give his administration another mandate to carry on the country's transformation plan.
He said that his administration has been working hard to be responsive and listen to the voices and discontent of the people.
"We can have real change and real reform in this country. I need your support (for it) to happen. I need your mandate when the time comes," he said in his speech at the launching of the Malaysiaku expo at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) today.
Najib said his administration is continuing the progress of Malaysia, started by his predecessor like Tunku Abdul Rahman and his father Tun Abdul Razak.
He said, Malaysia has come a long way from its humble beginnings and his transformation plan for the country will give it the final push to become a fully developed country.
"Before the 1970s, our poverty rate was about 70 per cent. After the success of the New Economic Policy, we have brought it down to maybe 3.5 per cent of relative poverty.
"This is the last stage before the year 2020, when we will uphold Malaysia as a fully developed nation," he said.
The Malaysiaku Expo by the Economic Planning Unit (EPU) from the Prime Minister's Department will be held from Oct 5 to Oct 7 from 10am to 7pm at the Tun Razak Hall (2), PWTC.
It showcases the nation's development in six key research areas since independence in 1957 to the present.
