PUTATAN COUNCIL FAILED THE PEOPLE

THE WALKABOUT conducted by the Sabah DAP team today in the Putatan District was led by the KK MP Hiew King Cheu with his special assistant Andrew Lee Chee Kiong, Robert Rajah and Vice Chairman Edward Ewol Mujie. They saw the garbage management by the council in the whole Putatan and Petagas area is totally hopeless, and the people have too much to complain about.

The garbage cubicles in Pasir Puteh and Putatan town are full of overloaded rubbish and emitting foul smell all over the places. The stray dogs had dug into the pile of rubbish causing the smelly garbage spreading all over the surrounding area.
The garbage bins were placed outside instead inside the cubicles. Some cubicles have bags of rubbish stacking high up and it seems that these had not been cleared away after many days.

A check on the garbage trucks which were parked in the Putatan Council yard in Pasir Puteh at the time of visit, it was during the morning, and there were at least 5 garbage trucks sitting there doing nothing. Some are not having road tax stickers and some already had expired. The question is why these trucks are not out there to clear the rubbish and were just idling in the yard.

The people in the Putatan area are complaining heavily and felt disappointed. It is high time that the government must do something in order to resolve the matter once for all. It is a shame that the Putatan Council can not clear the pile of rubbish efficiently and effectively.

This also reflected that the government is also inefficient in the aspect and very slow in executing their entrusted responsibility. If the people there cannot do their job properly, it is time to replace them.

The drains and sewerage problems here are seriously affecting the people. Just take a drive or a walk around one can see how messy it is in Putatan. It has been for years now the drains here had not been cleared, and the sewerage blockages and failure of pumps are frequent. Why can’t the council carry out its duty to get things done?
