KEMAMAN, Dec 26 – Eight cars are feared to have been buried when a landslide occurred at the Jabor-Jerangau road entry to Jalan Air Puteh at KM 139 at about 3.30 this morning.
Kemaman OCPD, Supt Che Suza Che Hitam said the 40-meter high road embankment collapsed and buried the eight cars parked in the area.
“We fear that there might be people who were sleeping in the cars that were buried,” he said when contacted by Bernama, here today.
Che Suza said a stretch of about 50 metres of the road had been covered under the landslide and he had contacted the Public Works Department to assist in cleaning up the area covered by the landslide using tractors.
He said the incident occurred following a continuous heavy rain which resulted in a soil movement in the area. – Bernama
