DUNGUN, Dec 16 — PAS has its own strengths and does not depend on weaknesses and internal conflicts in Barisan Nasional (BN) to claim Putrajaya in the next general election, said president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang.
He told this to reporters after the rally launched by PAS spiritual leader Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat at Dataran Paka near here yesterday.
Abdul Hadi, who is also PAS Terengganu adviser, was also optimistic that PAS would wrest Dungun back from Umno.
“With the wave of people’s support this time, we are confident of wresting the seat back. PAS’s target in the 13th general election is 17 to 18 seats in Terengganu but the party is capable of getting 28 seats,” he said.
On press reports yesterday that a group within DAP was calling for national chairman Karpal Singh’s ouster to ease the opposition’s chances to claim Putrajaya in the general election, Hadi described it as a political gimmick by the BN in its strategy to split parties in the opposition coalition. — Bernama
