PETALING JAYA, Dec 25 – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak visited the late Tun Dr Lim Keng Yaik’s official residence this morning to pay his last respects to the former Gerakan president, who passed away three days ago.
Najib arrived in Tropicana Golf and Country Resort here just after 10.30am on an overcast morning together with his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor.
Not long after the Prime Minister left, Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah arrived to pay his respects to the late politician, who will be given a state funeral tomorrow.
Also there were Gerakan president Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon and Datuk Johari Baharom, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Agro-Based Industry.
Members of the public have also been visiting the house to pay their last respects.
They have until 9pm tonight to do so, according to the family.
Keng Yaik’s cortege, to be draped with the national flag, will leave at 11am tomorrow for the Cheras Crematorium, where the remains will be cremated.
The Cabinet minister for 22 years, died peacefully at 5.13pm on Saturday with his family members at his bed side.
At the age of 73, he left behind a wife Toh Puan Wong Yoon Chuan and three children.
His last post in the cabinet was as the minister of Energy, Water and Telecommunications, from 2004 until 2008.
