Pahang Menteri Besar Adnan Yaakob, who pledged to cut one of his ears and jump into the Pahang river if Pakatan Rakyat captures the Bentong parliamentary seat at the coming polls, has described the coalition's '6+3 manifesto' for the state as unreasonable.
But state PAS information chief Suhaimi Saad rebuked the MB, saying the latter's remark was shallow.
“It’s a standard answer by UMNO and BN leaders whenever PR makes offer to the people for the next election,” he told Harakahdaily.
At the recent state-level series of roadshows by PR dubbed 'Himpunan Kebangkitan Rakyat', the coalition introduced its ‘6+3’ manifesto for the people of Pahang, six being pledges for the state while three at the Federal level.
Among others, it promised to solve housing issues and land woes, gazette Orang Asli native lands to prevent land grabs, and ease applications to convert agriculture lands.
The coalition also promised a corruption-free administration and the practice of an open-tender system which include a consideration to cut land taxes.
At the Federal level, PR promised to provide housing for those under Felda Plantation as well as for second and third generations of Felda settlers, police retirees and army veterans. The Federal offer also called for a 20 percent royalty for oil extracted off Pahang's shores and a pledge to upgrade Pahang’s road infrastructure linking major towns in the state.
Adnan immediately responded by saying PR’s offers were made to confuse the public, claiming some of its pledges including on housing were already being carried out by his administration.
“This shows Adnan fears the people being drawn to change and therefore he would lose the bet over his ear,” Suhaimi quipped.
