A Pahang DAP walkabout session at the Kampung Manchis new village in Bentong yesterday was marred by a minor scuffle when the group was confronted by about a dozen MCA members.
MCA member Lee Shu Hwa had went to see the group, which was led by Negri Sembilan DAP chief Anthony Loke, armed with news clippings highlighting issues involving the Rasah parliamentary constituency.
Shu Hwa had demanded an explanation from Loke on what the DAP parliamentarian planned to do to resolve a number of outstanding issues in his Rasah constituency.
When Pahang DAP chief Leong Ngah Ngah tried to intervene, Shu Hwa's brother Ah Kaw, the Kampung Manchis MCA branch chief, got physical.
A video clip of the incident uploaded by DAP supporters depicted Ah Kaw pulling Leong from behind by his shirt sleeve.
A short melee ensued after Bentong DAP chief Ching See Tai attempted to stop Ah Kaw. Shu Hwa reacted by angrily shoving Ching away.
Contacted yesterday evening, Ah Kaw denied claims by DAP leaders that his brother Shu Hwa had tried to push Ching to the ground and that the latter had damaged a DAP microphone.
He said he had photographic evidence to back his claims.
A lewd joke
On why he had tugged Leong's shirt, Ah Kaw said he had wanted to ask the former why DAP had allowed one of its ceramah speakers to hurl lewd remarks against MCA leaders.
"I have proof... One (DAP speaker) said MCA had 15 members of parliament (and the public should) remove their (penis), place it in a glass case and auction it off.
"Aren't they worse than communists? BN has been in power for decades and has never threatened to auction off (penises).
"This is what I wanted to tell Leong. I wanted his response to this," said Ah Kaw.
Meanwhile, Bentong DAP Youth chief Chow Yu Hui claimed that Ching had reacted to protect Leong and he was violently pushed by Shu Hwa.

Meanwhile, Bentong DAP Youth chief Chow Yu Hui claimed that Ching had reacted to protect Leong and he was violently pushed by Shu Hwa.
He also accused Shu Hwa of trying to seize DAP's loudhailer.
Chow said the verbal exchange went on for another five minutes before the DAP delegation decided to ignore them and continue with their walkabout.
The DAP walkabout was a precursor to their ceramah that was held last night at Bentong.
No sexy performers
Earlier this month, Chow and Ah Kaw had engaged in a war of words over the termination of a stage performance by young women in skimpy clothes at a recent DAP ceramah in Bentong.
Ah Kaw and another 14 local village heads, all of whom are MCA grassroots leaders, said the cancellation proved that DAP dared not offend PAS leaders who were present at the ceramah, but Chow argued that the performance was shelved to allow more time for speeches.
The 15 village heads then challenged Chow to perform a traditional chicken-head chopping oath-taking act at a local temple, which would see a rooster being slaughtered, to prove that he was not lying.
Chow however did not respond to the challenge.
Bentong is an MCA stronghold and the parliamentary seat is currently held by party's deputy president Liow Tiong Lai, who is also health minister.
He successfully defended his seat at the 2008 general election by trashing PKR's G Ponusamy with a majority of 12,549 votes.
