Umno assembly disconnected from the rakyat, says Anwar
Pakatan Rakyat is unfazed by the war cry by delegates at the Umno general assembly last week, as the latter displayed a disconnect from the people by failing to discuss issues affecting the rakyat, said PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim.
"They stayed in five-star hotels, smoked expensive cigars and rested in five-star lounges (during the meet). There was a great disconnect between the multi-millionaire Umno leaders and the masses on the ground.
"They did not touch on the core issues affecting society such as economic hardship, unemployment, soaring prices, endemic corruption and cases of poverty.
"What they talked about was how to retain power at all cause, so I am not in the least worried about the display of sheer arrogance at the Umno general assembly," he said.
