GEORGE TOWN: Streams of people began making their way as early as 7am to the Han Chiang school field for the Barisan Nasional Chinese New Year open house Monday. The massive do is scheduled to start at 9.30am.

The air of excitement was evident as youngsters came clad in t-shirts with South Korean K-pop star Psy's image. The rapper, who arrived in Penang at 7.10am, is scheduled to perform at 11.45am.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak is slated to arrive at about 10.45am.

Families of all ages have started to take their seats in front of the stage.

30 chingay flags lined the entrance into the Han Chiang field as thousands make their way to fill up the few remaining seats.

The buffet spread of local fare including fried chicken and rice are ready to be dished out.

"I live nearby and he is a big fan. I like watching Psy too. The music makes me happy," said 77-year-old Lim Lean Kee who walked here at 5am with her grandson - Star
