SHAH ALAM, May 17 — DAP today confirmed that former Selangor legislative assembly speaker Datuk Teng Chang Khim and Seri Kembangan assemblyman Ean Yong Hian Wah have been chosen to represent the party in the Selangot state executive council (Exco) line up.
DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng in a statement said he had acceded to Teng’s request who wanted to switch from the Speaker’s post to the state Exco.
“Ean Yong will be retained as Selangor state Exco for a second term,” he said.
Lim said the other positions in the Selangor exco were still being discussed, and that announcements would be made when a final decision had been reached.
He said Selangor DAP chairman Teresa Kok, deputy chairman Tony Pua and Teng had been tasked to handle discussions on government positions in Selangor on behalf of the party.
In the 12th general election on March 2008, PKR won 15 state seats in Selangor, while DAP and PAS won 13 and eight seats respectively.
The 2008 exco line-up saw DAP and PAS having three representatives while PKR four and speculation is rife that the composition of the line-up may change this time as DAP and PAS won 15 seats each in the just-concluded May 5 general election. PKR won 14 seats. – Bernama
