The Kuala Lumpur High Court has freed former Internal Security Act (ISA) detainee Yazid Sufaat and two others of charges relating to the promotion terrorism overseas.
According to Malay-language daily Berita Harian, Justice Kamardin Hasin allowed an application to set aside the case.
He also ordered that Yazid(left), 49, along with Halimah Hussein 52 and Muhammad Hilmi, 33 be released. Yazid’s arreston Feb 7 this year was the first reported case under the new security law. Sosma was gazetted last July, leading to repeal of the ISA.
Then Home Minister Hishammuddin Hussein had said the group wasinvolved in encouraging violence to threaten the public in Syria.
