'BN's mooted petitions show it distrusts EC, too'

Pakatan Rakyat today said that BN’s plan to file more than 50 election petition in parliamentary and states seats nationwide showed that the ruling coalition, too, distrusts the Election Commission (EC).

“If BN, too, is filing election petitions, then clearly they are also upset with the EC, it shows that the EC has failed,” said PAS secretary-general Mustafa Ali at a press conference at the PKR headquarters after the Pakatan leadership council meeting this afternoon.

Mustafa said Pakatan will file around 35 election petitions, 18 from PKR, 14 from PAS and three from DAP.

Adding on,  PKR supremo Anwar Ibrahim said that the election petitions of BN and Pakatan put together will number more than 80, suggesting that something was indeed very wrong with the EC.

“In our election history, there are normally one or two cases, there has never been up to 80 to 90 election petitions.

“This itself is enough reason for the EC (members) to resign due to their negligence and complicity in electoral fraud,” he said.
