FEELING GUILTY? : Do not politicise freak storm incident - Penang Umno
Penang Water Supply Corporation Sdn Bhd (PBAPP) today extended its condolences to the family of Wong Tze Chow, who died in a freak storm in Air Itam yesterday evening.
Its general manager Jaseni Maidinsa, in conveying the condolences, said it was a most unfortunate incident to have happened to Tze Chow, 32, who was a water treatment plant operator.
"We will be providing RM3,000 in immediate relief to his family, with the rest to be determined later," he told the New Straits Times.
Meanwhile, Tze Chow's sister Yee Ling, who was at the Penang Hospital Mortuary with her parents Wong Ah Kooi, 65 and Mah Yok Mei, 63, said her brother will be cremated at the Batu Gantung crematorium tomorrow.
"The cortege will leave the Khoo Kongsi funeral parlour in Farlim at 11am," she said.
Yee Ling said her brother was hit by a big tree as he was riding his motorcycle down from Tiger Hill after work.
Penang Umno liaison deputy chairman Datuk Musa Sheikh Fadzir, who was also at the mortuary gave contributions to the families of Wong and another deceased Jahir Hussain Sulaiman, 46.
He urged all quarters to not politicise the incident yesterday, noting that it was a natural disaster.
"This is not the time to play the blame game. It is a natural disaster. We should sympathise with them.
"We convey our condolences to the families of the deceased," he added.
