PAS vice-president Datuk Husam Musa has been remanded for two days from today to assist investigations under Section 4 of the Sedition Act 1948 in connection with a statement he allegedly made on martyrdom.
The remand order was issued by Magistrate Nik Habri Muhamad at the Kota Baharu police headquarters, where Husam is being held.
Police had applied for the remand order on the Salor assemblyman through investigating officer ASP Noland A/L Janah.
Husam, 54, was detained at 4pm yesterday in Kampung Pandan, Ampang, Selangor by Federal police and was taken to Kota Baharu last night. PAS organ Harakahdaily had quoted him last week as saying that if any protester died during yesterday's Black 505 rally at Padang Merbok in Kuala Lumpur, that person would be deemed a martyr.
Husam's lawyer later told reporters that a team of 10 lawyers would defend him.
Journalists and photographers were not allowed to enter the premises, which was turned into a temporary magistrate's court. – Bernama
