Kit Siang takes Red Bean Army dig at Umno
DAP national adviser Lim Kit Siang said today that he finally understood why the party was accused of funding a band of cyber-troopers to cause racial disharmony.
"Today I know why these stories about the Red Bean Army (RBA) were made up. There is a proposal made by Umno members for a RM250 million allocation to fight the RBA," Lim told Parliament, drawing chuckles from the Opposition MPs.
The DAP stalwart had earlier denied that the party was behind the RBA which is said to have of 3,000 cyber-troopers.
He also refuted allegations that the party had spent RM100 million since 2008 to fund the group which had been accused of spreading racial hatred in cyberspace.
"They have a vested interest in this. They want Umno leaders to allocate to fight them but it is not for the fight. It is for their own riches," Lim said.
At this point, Tasek Gelugor MP Shabudin Yahaya interjected and demanded that Lim retract his words against Umno as it went against the House rules.
However, Speaker Ismail Mohamed disagreed and asked Lim to go on.
Lim said that the Prime Minister's promise to establish the National Reconciliation policy before the elections was not sincere.
"They never intended to follow through with this plan. It was evident when words like 'Chinese tsunami' were used.
"In fact, it was a Malaysian tsunami.”
