PAS vice-president Datuk Husam Musa was arrested by police earlier today in Pandan just as he was making his way to Black 505 rally in Padang Merbok.
In a telephone conversation with The Malaysian Insider, Husam said he was told by the arresting team that they were asked by Kelantan police to pick him up.
"I don't know what this is all about. I was in Kelantan in the past three days. They could have detained me then," he said.
"I suspect this is to stop me from speaking at the gathering."
Husam said he is being held at the Ampang district police headquarters. It is not known if he will be taken to Kelantan for further investigations.
However, Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Mohmad Salleh maintained that no one was arrested in connection with the Black 505 rally.
"I don't know anything about Husam's arrest," he said.
It is learnt that Husam is being investigated for sedition. He was alleged to have persuaded youths to take part in the rally, adding that if they sacrifice themselves, they will be martyrs.
His comment, which was published by Harakahdaily, was condemned by several Muslim leaders who said that those who opposed a legitimate government were traitors.
