Kelantan Football Association advisor Tan Sri Annuar Musa said Malaysian sports needed a minister who is brave to voice out and firm in his decisions, like current minister Khairy Jamaluddin.
"The Youth and Sports Minister has the credibility to give his opinion and views on football in the country," said Annuar.
Annuar in his Facebook posting said viewed Khairy as a person who was genuine and honest in expressing his view when commenting on the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) decision to declare Pahang as the home team for the FA Cup second leg semifinal that was played at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil after the initial match was abandoned at the Darul Makmur Stadium in Pahang on Tuesday, due to crowd trouble.
"I am confident that the comments from the Youth and Sports Minister was based on feedback received and not directed at any organisation or individual," he said.
Khairy had questioned FAM's decision to award the hosting rights to Pahang for the postponed FA CUP semi-final second leg match between Pahang and Johor Darul Takzim (JDT) at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil last Saturday.
Following his comment (Khairy), FAM President Sultan Ahmad Shah had voiced his displeasure over the Sports Minister's criticism of the national body's handling of the FA Cup semi-final second leg debacle.
The Sultan had said "Such a statement, which implied that the FAM showed favouritism, should not have been made by a responsible and well educated person like him (Khairy)."
Khairy in response had said "I was being honest when I made that comment about FAM. If they decide to accept it, then it is okay...but if they don't, then never mind."
