Selangor lends PI Bala's wife and children a hand

The Selangor government has donated RM10,000 to the family of P Balasubramaniam, a private investigator who knew Mongolian national Altantuya Shaariibuu, which has been facing financial problems since his death on March 15.

NONERodziah Ismail - the exco member in charge of welfare and women's affairs - said the Selangor government will also help Balasubramaniam's three children, aged between 11 to 16, into school.

The three children were studying in India, but they have not attended school since returning to Malaysia two months ago.

Rodziah added that she will also be looking into ways to help Balasubramaniam's wife, Selvi, (right) start a catering business as the latter's passion is cooking.

"The RM10k is from the Selangor government. We will do what we can to ease her burden with whatever schemes provided by the government," she said at a visit to Selvi's home in Rawang.

"Seeing as how the estranged children - who have resided in India for the past five years - can't resume their studies locally, we will look for alternatives."
Decided in April

Other than donations, Rodziah said she would ensure that Selvi received a steady monthly income to support herself and her family.

NONE"We will discuss with the local authorities to see which business model we can provide for Selvi's catering business."

According to Rodziah (right), the state exco had decided to help Selvi on April 3. However, the state government postponed the meeting with Selvi due to the general election and the dissolution of Parliament.

Also present were Rawang assemblyperson Gang Peh Nei and Subang MP R Sivarasa.

Balasubramaniam had died on March 15 due to heart complications. He was one of the last persons to see Altantuya before her murder in 2007.

He has maintained that his statutory declaration dated July 1, 2008 - in which he provided alleged details of how then deputy premier Najib Abdul Razak relationship with Altantuya - was true.
