Maznah Maslan, one of the candidates vying for the Wanita Umno chief post, has denied she is acting as proxy for the party’s former Wanita chief Rafidah Aziz in the three-cornered fight.
Maznah said that she had decided to contest for the top post of the party’s women’s wing at the very last minute during the nomination last Saturday, without consulting anyone prior to that.“I hope I can be given a little bit of respect that I am able to think and make decisions by myself,” she told a press conference today.
The former human resources deputy minister from Pahang also claimed that she had informed several key personnel via text message, including Pahang Menteri Besar Adnan Yaakob, on her decision to join the contest, but not Rafidah (above).
“Until today, I have not enough time to send a SMS to inform Rafidah (to tell her of my decision to contest), but I think she came to know about via the media,” she added.
