Toddler killed by FALLING 29-inch TV at daycare center

A toddler was killed when a 29-inch television set fell on top of her at a daycare centre in Rawang near here today.

Rabiatul Adawiyah Adlan Zulkarnain, aged a year and eight-months, was pronounced dead upon arrival at the Selayang Hospital, believed to be from severe injuries on her head.

Her father Adlan Zulkarnain Mustafa, 40, said he dropped Rabiatul Adawiyah and her elder sister at the daycare centre in Taman Bersatu Rawang at 6.20am, before going off to his office at a bank in the city.

“About 10 minutes later, I received a call from the staff that a television had fallen on my daughter.

“I rushed there before taking her to the hospital. However, she could not be revived and was pronounced dead soon after that,” he said.

Adlan said he learnt that Rabiatul Adawiyah, who was the youngest of five siblings, was trying to press a button on the television placed on top of a cupboard.

He later lodged a report on the incident at Rawang police station and his daughter's remains would be buried in his wife’s hometown in Teluk Intan, Perak.

Gombak police chief Assistant Commissioner Abdul Rahim Abdullah said the case is being investigated as sudden death.
