The Kuala Lumpur High Court has today recorded a settlement of a suit by constitutional law expert Abdul Aziz Bari against former Kulim Bandar Baru MP and Perkasa leader Zulkifli Noordin and Utusan Malaysia.
This follows Utusan is willing to retract the offending article and will publish an apology to Abdul Aziz.
Abdul Aziz’s lawyer Mohd Hanipa Maidin (right in photo) said the case has been settled without any admission of liability.
“The defendants have agreed to retract the statements made by the first defendant (Zulkifli) which was published by the third defendant (Utusan) on Oct 18, 2011 against Abdul Aziz.”
Zulkifli had remarked that Abdul Aziz was rude, an uncouth individual and unbecoming of a law professor when he uttered a statement regarding the sultan of Selangor.
The former Kulim Bandar Baru MP was represented by Hasnal Rezua Merican, while Utusan Malaysia and its group editor Abdul Aziz Ishak was represented by B Mohana Kumar.
