COSPLAY MURDER suspect to be charged on Thursday

COSPLAY MURDER suspect to be charged on Thursday
KUALA LUMPUR - The man behind the murder of his 15-year-old cosplay friend will be charged at the Petaling Jaya magistrate's court tomorrow.
Datuk S. Suraj, counsel for the 23-year-old suspect, said his client would be brought to court tomorrow despite his seven-day remand expiring on Friday.
"I was told this by the case's investigating officer Assistant Superintendent Cairun," he said during a telephone call today.
The suspect had initially told Ng Yuk Tim's mother Sim Yee Ling, 35, that he had dropped the teen off at the Kelana Jaya Light Rail Transit (LRT) station at 3pm on Oct 21.
When checks were made on the station's closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera recordings the following day, Yuk Tim was nowhere to be seen.
The family then contacted the suspect, who agreed to join a search party to look for the victim at the LRT station on Oct 22.
During the search, Selangor Community Policing Association chairman Kuan Chee Heng detected injuries and a bite mark on the man's hand.
He coaxed him into confessing having hit the victim's head with a dumbbell when they scuffled after she refused to have sex with him.
The suspect led police to a location in Kota Kemuning, Shah Alam, where he had dumped Yuk Tim's body which he had stuffed into a luggage bag.
Police obtained a seven-day remand order from the Petaling Jaya magistrate's court against the suspect on Oct 23.
Sources said pathologists had concluded Yuk Tim died from injuries sustained when she was hit on the head.
She had been hit at least three times with a 10kg dumbbell.
