LABUAN - Police are seeking the public’s cooperation to track down a 20-year old man to assist in an investigation into a statutory rape case involving a 14-year-old school girl.
Labuan police chief Supt Adzhar Othman said the man, from Kuala Penyu, Sabah, who works for a courier service company, was believed to be still at large in the mainland of Sabah.
According to a preliminary investigations, the suspect (whom the girl knew only for two weeks), had taken her to his rented room in Kampung Jawa for a night's stay.
"The suspect is also involved in illegal motorcycle racing (Mat Rempit),” Adzhar said.
Meanwhile, Adzhar said police also busted a housebreaking syndicate that was active on the duty-free island with the arrests of 10 suspects, including a 14-year-old boy and two 16-year-old girls, all of whom were foreigners.
He added that police recovered RM25,000 worth of stolen goods from the syndicate.
