The Public Accounts Committee (PAC)’s report on the controversial National Feedlot Corporation (NFC) project is expected to be made public in two weeks’ time, PAC chief Nur Jazlan Mohamed said today.
Nur Jazlan told a press conference after chairing the second meeting for the current PAC line-up that the new committee is in the midst of ratifying the report, which was produced by the previous panel.
“We will table it in Parliament in about two weeks time. To be fair to the new committee, they will have to discuss the report as well,” he said in the Parliament building today.
Fellow PAC member Tony Pua has previously said that new “juicy details” of the PAC will be revealed if the NFC report is approved by the new committee and tabled in Parliament.

The PAC had also decided to probe into the long delay in the construction and completion of the KLIA2 project, which has been delayed five times.
The cost of the project has also more than doubled up from RM1.9 billion to nearly RM4 billion over the course of the delay, and is now expected to be completed in 2014.
“Though this project was not raised the Audit Report, this is a public interest case. So we want to call them (Transport Ministry) forward in order to seek an explanation over the matter,” Nur Jazlan said.
The Transport Ministry will face the PAC over both the KLIA2 delay and procurement of landing equipments at the Kota Kinabalu International Airport (KKIA) on Nov 19.

Meanwhile, PKR’s Ampang MP Zuraida Kamarudin said that the only way for the government to get back the RM250 million soft loan disbursed is to liquidate the NFC.
In a press conference at the Parliament lobby, she said that this would include the purchases made by the company which are unrelated to the National Feedlot Centre project like “high-end condominiums and prestigious cars”.
She said that it would be better than trying to strike a deal with a company to take over the company’s assets and liabilities, as any company would find it easier to start with a clean slate without encumbrances.
She added that if the company owners are not held accountable it will perpetuate a “big boss ‘makan’, small ones ‘makan’ too” culture of corruption.
