KUALA LUMPUR - A High Court dismissed Minister of Youth and Sports Khairy Jamaluddin's application to amend his statement of defence in a RM100 million defamation suit filed by opposition leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
High Court Judicial Commissioner S.M.Komathy made the decision in chambers today.
She ordered Khairy to pay RM5,000 in costs to Anwar.
She also set Nov 22 for case management.
On March 7, 2008, Anwar filed the defamation suit against Khairy alleging that the latter had uttered defamatory words and caused the posting of a video clip entitled "Anwar and kin no threat".
Anwar claimed a video clip on Malaysiakini.com contained defamatory words spoken by Khairy at a ceramah in Lembah Pantai on Feb 20, 2008.
Khairy, in his statement of defence, said he relied on the defence of justification and qualified privilege.
